![]() Nathan Wilks is an American composer and pianist living in Dallas. He has been teaching for over a decade in both private lessons and college classes. He is a graduate of the University of Utah (Ph.D) and Texas Christian University (MM), and currently teaches composition and theory at A&M-Commerce.
He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Durington Composition Award, The Salty Cricket Audience Choice Award, and the Marvolene Bowe Speed Award in Composition. BLOG

Happy to be presenting my dissertation research at MACRO musicians workshop in Madison, WI 5/4/2017 Graduated from the University of Utah 11/1/2016 Successfully defended doctoral dissertation: Hello Dr. Wilks :) 7/15/2016 Finished the first draft of my doctoral dissertation on repetition in verse-chorus forms. 3/18/2016 Guest lecturer at Texas Christian University, discussing the business of being a composer. 3/11/2016 Premiere of Vague Recollections at Salty Cricket's Living Masters Concert featuring Samuel Adler. Performance by Miaomiao Wang and Alex Martin. 3/9/2016 Guest lecturer at Utah Valley University presenting research on repetition in popular music. 11/2/2015 Premiere of String Quartet No. 2 by the Fry Street Quartet at the University of Utah in SLC. 10/15/2015 Disco Lung won the Audience Choice Award at Urban Arts Gallery, presented by Salty Cricket Composers Collective. |
